  • We reviewed how to organize information for an essay, using the "Waste Not, Want Not" article.
  •   We also discussed how essays needed to begin with more context when they were being written in response to a text-based prompt. We created a short structure that would "build up" to the topic sentence, and provide the reader with the background they needed to understand the argument we were about to make.

  • We discussed flow in writing, which is the smooth movement from one idea to another. We practiced writing a number of paragraphs using the idea of carrying the theme of one sentence to another in order to increase fluency and elaboration, while avoiding going off-task.
  • Personification in Music: After watching the examples in this video, find a song which contains similar examples of personification. Write a proper heading on a lined paper, copy down the lyrics, and be sure to underline the personification. With a parent's permission, visit either www.lyrics.com or www.songlyrics.com for complete song lyrics.
